One World One Heart

Welcome to my blog! This is my first year participating in the One World One Heart event (read about it here) and I am excited to discover new creative bloggers from all over the world.
I am a travel agent living in northern Canada, and I try to do as much travelling as I can. I am perpetually behind on scrapbooking my travels but it is one of my goals to get caught up.
I started out in the crafty world with scrapbooking as a teenager. After college I got back into it and that segued into card making, book making, sewing and other creative pursuits. I recently took an online course to learn how to create digital images and I've fallen in love with digital creations as well.

I have four little prizes for visiting my blog. To enter, leave a comment. If you have a favorite, please let me know and if you are a winner I will send you your favorite if possible.

The event ends on Feb 17th and winners will be announced and notified that day. Winners will be randomly selected.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

not perfect

I attempted to make a felted elephant for my grandma's birthday. He didn't come out perfect, but good enough. I think she likes him.
The actually felting didn't seem to work too well. I will have to try again.

at the beach

Hola. I wanted to play along with the Studio Calico Sunday Sketch this week.

I came up with this page using pictures from the beach on our trip to Puerto Plata last Feb. Oh how I would love to be on vacation this week, its been nasty cold here.

I found this very exciting candle on clearance today during my lunch hour. It was sort of the high point of my day. That and some exciting napkins (also on clearance) for a special napkin party this weekend.

Thats all for now, thanks for stopping by!

birch trees

happy thursday!
I really like birch trees. When I have my own yard I want to have many birch trees.
I sketched some the other night

then I painted them with watercolors.

Then I sketched them in illustrator. And then I added a cardinal.

the start of sketchbook challenge

Hola. I've really enjoyed the weekend, following whatever creativeness was calling to me. Not stressing about other things I started that I really should finish.

I needed a daytimer to keep track of things, so I bought an ugly one from the Dollar store. I picked one that the calendar inside bit slipped out of the cover so I could make it a bit more pretty. I didn't want anything too elaborate, so I can just chuck it in my purse and not worry about it. I wrapped the cover in contact paper and stamped one of my favorite stamps on it in black staz on. I added an envelope inside the front cover to tuck any important pieces of paper. Done and done. Simple.

I am not a drawer, but I want to practice it. I find it really hard, because I like things to be perfect, and they arn't. But I want to try different things and find my style. So I figure its a good idea to play along with The Sketchbook Challenge.
I am so lucky to have my wonderful sister, who is also my best friend. So (and I hope she is not insulted) I decided to try a whimsical cartoonish drawing from a photo of us together.

On another note, I am oh so excited for the One World One Heart Event!

the end of 2010

Well its the end of 2010. I've been sort of slacking in the crafty and bloggy departments lately, though I have been doing a few things.

My postcard I sent off to Utah for the Great Big stitched postcard swap.

Calendar inserts I designed in Illustrator, I realize I forgot to take a picture of the final project , but they fit into an acrylic 4 X 6 photo frame and make really cute desk calendars.

I learned to applique in December. I made the patterns for these giraffes in illustrator, and made a shirt for a christmas gift. I was really happy with it.

I'm working on a mostly digital project I hope to share soon, but I'm having technical difficulties these days. Hopefully will be resolved soon.

Very exciting for me, I did get a new craft desk (a bookshelf, modified by my lovely father) which is very exciting for me as I was in desperate need of a bit more storage and work space. It makes me so very happy.
